About the artist
Mary Lindhjem has been capturing the world’s natural beauty with glass, film, and digital for nearly 40 years. As a freelancer with roots in traditional darkroom photography, Mary has traveled the continental U.S., Hawaii, Costa Rica, U.K., and Africa, with a specific focus on nature & wildlife photography.
Her fine art photography has been featured in Virginia’s Perrell Art Gallery and Suffolk Museum, and her imagery has been published by the National Wildlife Federation in the award-winning My First Book of Baby Animals and Animals That Make Me Say Look Out as well as in On Safari by David Anderson and Aboriginally Yours – Chief Henry Red Eagle edited by E.R. Williamson, J.D. Perley, and M.F. Bunham.
Mary also has served as a photography instructor at Tidewater Community College's Visual Arts Center and been engaged for several national speaker series. Most recently, she ran destination-based photography and Photoshop seminars around the globe.
She now quietly resides in the Appalachian Mountains, shooting the bird(s) ... and flowers, too, of course.
